Good Morning Everyone
Holly and I would like to introduce Ukiah Friend Lohff! She was born last night at 10:48 pm MST,
weighs 6 lbs 6 oz and is 19 ½” long.
Because Holly spiked a bit of a fever right before delivery, hospital
protocol dictates that Ukiah spend 48 hours in the NICU to ascertain that she
didn’t contract an infection in the womb.
We visited her this morning and all the test so far have
come back clear. They’ll start working
on transitioning her out from under the heater this afternoon so that we can
hopefully bring her home on Sunday night or Monday.
Here are a few pics to tie you over until I can get a
full site up ;)
Thanks everyone for all your support and love.

Munchkin Update
Ukiah
is progressing with flying colors! She's now off her IV and
maintaining a healthy blood-sugar level. She'll be checked this
afternoon at 3 and if she's in an acceptible range, they'll stop
testing altogether (which is great because it involves pricking her
little heel). Her body temperature is mainting a healthy level
and that is allowing them to slowly drop her incubator temperature so
that she can be transferred to a cradle & ultimately home :)
The results from her jaundice tests came back at 50% of what they
would have to be to require treatment so that is also on the plus side.
Holly is doing well, in good spirits and doing well with the
little one. We've managed to get a little sleep in between these
3 hours sessions so we're doing well.
Thanks again for all great emails and txt messages

Good Morning
The
newborn battle continues; with every 3 hours she is eating more,
getting feistier and we are getting sleepier ;) We had a glorious
1.5 hours of uninterrupted sleep last night and we're quickly learning
the value of any sleep we can get. We made it home for a few
hours last night to take care of the weasel and get a little sleep in
our own bed, getting home at 1 am and having to be back here by 6 am
made for a short visit, but great nonetheless. Ukiah's Isolat
(incubator) is now down to 27.3 degrees so we've only got .3 to go
until she gets moved to an open crib. Still no word on getting
out of here but we sure are ready.
There's a throng of docs,
advisors and various other staff heading my way (they hit all the NICU
people) so I've got to go.
I stuck some new pictures at the bottom - thanks for following!

Hello Hello
Baby
progress has been a little bittersweet since this morning. The
nursing is going really well and I think on this next feeding she won't
need any donor milk. On the other hand, her body temp dropped
below 98º (97.9º) so the nurses bumped her Isolet temperature back up
to 27.5º from 27.3º. Our goal here is to hit 27º so we're CLOSE,
so very close but seemingly so far away ;) Once she hits
that magic 27º, she'll need to sustain on her own so we've bundled her
in some super fuzzy, pink bunny sleeper thing that Holly thinks came
from Bear (thanks Bear!) and waiting for the 6 o'clock temperature
check.
I've added a few more pics at the bottom too...

Good Morning
Ukiah's
progress is continuing. The nurse moved her from the Isolet last
night over to the crib and her temperature is maintaining nicely (in
fact, it even went up a bit). She gets "Car Seat Safety Tested"
this afternoon which basically just entails monitoring her breathing
and heart rate while she's strapped into the car seat. After
that, she'll get a standard hearing test and as long her temp maintains
through all this, I think they may run out of test to run ;)
Holly and I are in good spirits but trying to remain
conservatively enthusiastic in case things don't continue to progress
as well as they have. Mike and Donna came by and cooked a
fantastic dinner for us last night between feedings which made for a
much nicer evening. Well, it's feeding time - there are more pics
at the bottom!

She's Home!
Hey everyone, I'm guessing you figured out by my sudden lack of free
time that we were finally able to take Ukiah home. We were
discharged late yesterday afternoon after Uki passed her seemingly
endless tests with flying colors. She did well last night and
started our training for not getting to sleep anymore ;)
Fortunately, we slept after her mid-morning feeding and Holly and I are
now starting to feel human once again. We're having "Tummy Time"
at the moment before afternoon feeding and then I think we're going to
venture taking her to the store.
I moved all the hospital pics to a separate page (the link is below)
and posted some new pics for anyone who is still following along.
This will be the last post on this blog but we'll continue to post pics
in the usual jollyidaho.com fassion.
